Dear RSC Members, Sponsors, and Riders

Effective immediately, due to deteriorating snow conditions on the lower Boulder Trail network, the Ministry of Forests has decided to close all vehicle access (sleds, trucks, trailers and commercial vehicles) to Boulder along the Jordan FSR, including the West Entrance, Main Entrance, and Streeter Street. They have determined it necessary for road and environmental protection. Frisby and our Welcome Centre still remain open. Please continue to read for more information about the closure.

The Specifics of the Closure

The Revelstoke Snowmobile Club does not have a Road Maintenance Agreement (RMA) for the Jordan FSR. This means that all decisions regarding plowing, parking, and access are made by the Ministry of Forests, which is responsible for assessing road conditions. Based on their recent evaluation, the Ministry has decided to close the road due to road and environmental protection concernsWith a closure now in place, enforcement falls under local Conservation Officers (refer to Section 13 for penalties). While we do not enforce the closure, this means our operations on Boulder are now officially finished for the 2024/25 season.

Thank you to everyone who joined us—on the deep days, the cold days, and everything in between.

We are Pursuing a Road Maintenance Agreement

The Ministry has requested that we pursue a Road Maintenance Agreement (RMA). Previously, we were advised against an RMA due to considerable financial implications. However, without one, we do not have the authority to control parking, plowing, and road maintenance and cannot address issues such as erosion, whoops, and damage to existing vegetation—factors the Ministry has cited as reasons for closing the road.

Moving forward, the RSC will work toward securing an RMA. Our goal is that by obtaining an RMA, we can address these concerns, help prevent future closures, and ensure more consistent access to Boulder Mountain, including operating from the 3 km parking area.

***It’s important to note that while we are pursuing an RMA, the approval process is handled by the government and takes time. We will keep everyone updated as new information becomes available.***

Frisby is Still Open!

We know how much everyone loves Boulder, and while we share in the disappointment of its temporary closure, Frisby remains open!

Although the parking lot is now snow-free, a snow trail is still holding from the booth upwards. Conditions will continue to change with weather and wear, but for now, we encourage riders to make the most of it!

Winter isn’t over yet—come enjoy the last of the season!
