In January, we were honoured to host a distinguished group for a ride up Boulder Mountain. This included Mel Arnold MP, Mayor of Revelstoke Gary Sulz, Revelstoke City Councillors Tim Stapenhurst and Austin Luciow, and representatives from the BC Snowmobile Federation Donegal Wilson, Peter Doyle and Adam McDonald. Our aim was to showcase the sights, snow and community that surrounds snowmobiling in Revelstoke.

Our journey began on a positive note as our group was eager to head up. Upon reaching the trail’s base, we made a pit stop at the Boulder ticket booth, where we were warmly welcomed by Tracy, a long-time employee. Tracy graciously shared insights into her pivotal role and that of her fellow employees, emphasizing their commitment to ensuring a fantastic experience and a seamless start to the day for all snowmobiling enthusiasts.

Under the expert guidance of Kirk and Tyson from Great Canadian Tours our journey began with an exciting ascent up the well-groomed and expansive Kirkup trail. We received approximately 30cm of snowfall the previous night, which continued substantially throughout the day: the winter season had well and truly arrived in Revelstoke.

Our destination for the day? The warm and welcoming hut on Boulder Mountain where Mike, of Zalas Restaurant and a steadfast supporter of the snowmobile club, treated us to delicious BBQ burgers and piping hot soup. The cabin served as a refuge not only for our group but also for others seeking shelter from the snow, fostering a friendly atmosphere.

We captured the moment with a few photos before embarking on the narrow yet stunning Veideman trail. Towering trees, draped in thick blankets of snow, created a winter landscape that showcased the best of our trails.

Back at the Welcome Centre, our adventure concluded with a debrief that delved into the broader significance of snowmobiling in Revelstoke, BC. The conversation focused on the vital role snowmobiling plays in both the local community and the economy. Our snowmobile club is a key player, transforming the perception of snowmobiling from a casual activity to a respected sport.

Revelstoke’s distinction as the snowmobile capital of Canada amplifies our impact nationwide. Visitors are drawn here for the thrill of snowmobiling, contributing not only to the excitement but also to the economic vitality of our town. In addition, we hope to inspire riders to take their experience at the RSC home and support their local clubs across the province and beyond.

As we enjoy the groomed trails, friendly huts, and deep snow, we’re not just riders — we’re ambassadors for the sport, advocating for its recognition and significance. Here’s to more powder-filled adventures, community connections, and the enduring spirit of snowmobiling in the heart of Revelstoke.

See you out there.
