June 2019 Newsletter Final

Ah, summer!

The warmth of summer would be of no good without the cold winter giving its sweetness.

Winter season may be over, but Revelstoke Snowmobile Club (RSC) is busy getting ready for next season.  We have closed the gates restricting access to the alpine on both Boulder and Frisby mountains.  Motorized use passed these gates is strictly prohibited.  Our annual trail maintenance program will be commencing soon.  A portion of your trail pass and membership money is invested back into the trail system and infrastructure each year.  This season we will be brushing and ditching in several places along our trails.  Summer projects also include a small expansion of the Boulder back parking lot, and construction of permanent outhouses at Boulder and Frisby trail heads.

We have some exciting summer events planned:

July 1 – Canada Day Parade

Join Revelstoke Snowmobile Club at the Canada Day parade.  We are entering a float to help celebrate Revelstoke’s 120th birthday!  Parade start time is 12:00 pm at the Courthouse.  RSC is looking for volunteers to help decorate and/or ride the float in the parade.  Click the link below to sign up.

July 11 – Golf for Easter Seals

Snowmobile clubs across BC have supported Easter Seals charities since 1978.  Donate to a worthy cause while reminiscing about the winter season with your sled buddies over dinner and a round of golf.

August 17 & 18*

Boulder and Frisby Wood Work Party

I am going to be honest, this event is more work than party.  We need the cabins stocked with firewood for the up coming winter season.  Your efforts will be rewarded with the opportunity to ride your ATV, UTV or dirt bike to the Boulder and Frisby cabins, followed by a BBQ!  As you all know, motorized vehicle use beyond the locked gates is strictly prohibited.  An exception is being made for this event only.

Registration for the event will be in the July & August newsletters.

*The proposed dates are weather and forest fire dependent.

September 6-8 Annual General Meeting

This year we have decided to turn the Annual General Meeting into a fun filled weekend.  Load up the travel trailers and ATVs for one more summer adventure.  RSC has collaborated with Revelstoke ATV club to take our members and guests on a ride.  Mountain biking, dirt biking or hiking activities will be other options available and lead by RSC volunteers.  The schedule is being finalized.  Mark the dates in your calendar!

Pets that Sled Photo Contest

It was difficult to pick the top three winners, so RSC donated additional merchandise and expanded the price packages for our top six favorites.  Our first place prize is a set of 509 goggles donated by Rough Country.  The winner is…Joel Unger and his super shredder doggo, Douglas Fur!

The pets were so darn cute, we felt they all deserved a treat from Revy Raw, our local dog food company.  We will be reaching out to get everyone’s mailing address.  Photos will be reposted on our Facebook page.

Thank you to the local businesses that donated prizes for our first photo contest:
