Boulder

Boulder

Rating: Family Friendly to Extreme

Boulder is one of Revelstoke’s premier riding areas. Groomed trails lead riders to terrain for all riding abilities from open bowls to technical tree riding and chute climbing.  The iconic Boulder cabin is a great place to warm up and have lunch.

The main staging area is located at 4177 Westside Road. Stop in at the Welcome Centre to learn more about sledding and visiting Revelstoke. Our parking staff will guide you to the best parking location based on your rig size. The West Boulder Trail head, off highway 1, does not have a parking, however guests staying at the West end of town can ride right from their doors.

For the first time or returning rider, our friendly staff can answer all your questions helping make your visit to Revelstoke great. Stop in at the Revelstoke Snowmobile Club’s Welcome Centre (built in 2016) at the first Boulder parking lot to get information about avalanche conditions, maps, trip planning and much more.

Trail Fees
Once you have geared up, head over to the ticket booth at the trail head. The daily trail fee is $25 per rider. We accept cash, debit or credit. If you are a member, please scan your membership card at the ticket booth. Revelstoke Snowmobile Club grooms seven nights a week and twice on Friday and Saturday trail conditions dependent.

There is always that one person in the group that forgot something at the truck. While you are waiting check that your avalanche transceiver is on and which trails were groomed last night. Three main trails that lead to the Boulder emergency shelter cabin are Kirkup, Bezanson, or Veideman. Bezanson is the shortest, and the one that gets the most traffic. #nooncrew will need to battle the late day whoops

You may choose to spend the day riding all 50kms of groomed trails or head straight to the cabin. Remember: Constant Throttle Speed will help to preserve the trails. Don’t forget to sign in and out at the Boulder Cabin before heading past. If there are vehicles in the parking lot overnight, we will check the logbook to see if anyone has not signed out.

Once in the alpine common landmarks are Alberta Hill, Super Bowl, Sugar Bowl, Bull Pen, Airport, Monster Bowl, Private Meadows, Kirkup Lakes and Turbo Hill. If you are unfamiliar with the area and want to see all these places, we recommend that your group hires a professionally trained guide.

Overnight Camping

As per Revelstoke Snowmobile Club’s agreement with Recreation Sites and Trails BC, camping in the Boulder and Frisby parking lots is strictly prohibited.  Not only does it disrupt snow removal and parking, but also impedes the Club’s safety protocols for ensuring everyone returns safely from the mountain.

Guided Tours

Great Canadian Tours is the only legal snowmobile tour provider in Revelstoke.  You are in the back country. If something goes wrong, make sure your guide has the knowledge to manage it.

You should expect the minimum education and experience of your guide:
1. Avalanche Operations 1 or 2 certification for safely guiding complex terrain
2. Advanced wilderness survival first aid training
3. Basic mechanical knowledge
4. Satellite and radio communication

Be aware of high avalanche hazards on the expert terrain. It is your responsibility to check avalanche conditions before heading out.

Visit avalanche.ca for updates.

Frisby Ridge can be accessed from the Boulder Parking Lot on the Streeter Street Trail.

Altitude 4000 – 7500ft

Summer Closure

Revelstoke Snowmobile Club has installed and maintains a locked gate at 15 KM on the Kirkup Trail to protect sensitive alpine ecosystems.  Access from the Viedeman trail is not possible due to terrain.
