Area 51

area 51

Rating: Advanced

The long, ungroomed trail leads you to beautiful alpine riding.  This is a ride to save for a sunny day. Big country, and high avalanche risk is challenging even for advanced riders. Do not forget to take extra gas.

Area 51 riding area is located south of Revelstoke. It is accessed by Highway 23, turning right just before the Shelter Bay ferry. Parking changes depending on active logging, to find out more visit Front Counter BC.

Be mindful of the Monashee Provincial Park Boundary, this provincial park is non-motorized. Please note that there is a ski tenure in the area, do not sled on ski tenure runs. Visit Revelstoke Snowmobile Club’s Welcome Centre for more information if you are unfamiliar with the area.

NOTICE: The Pingston bridge has been deemed unsafe for recreational and public traffic due to a hole in the bridge deck. The road and bridge are closed. BC Timber Sales has barricaded access to the bridge by building a three foot berm on one side, and a three foot ditch on the other. BCTS is commencing plans to remove and permanently deactivate this crossing location with anticipated work beginning in the fall of 2021.

It is your responsibility to check avalanche conditions before heading out.  Visit avalanche.ca for updates.
